CCI Kazakhstan meets with stakeholders for 2030 Sustainability Commitments
23.01.2023Almaty – Coca-Cola İçecek Kazakhstan (CCI Kazakhstan) held stakeholder dialogue workshops in Astana and Almaty on its Sustainability Commitments for 2030 which are in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The workshops were attended by representatives of akimats, private industries, non-governmental organizations, higher educational institutions, CCI distributors and customers along with authoritative experts in the field of ecology and use of natural resources.
The dialogue revolved around CCI’s 2030 sustainability commitments related to packaging, water, climate, human rights, and diversity and inclusion. The participants discussed potential business opportunities and shared proposals regarding implementation of partnership projects in the field of SDGs in Kazakhstan. The experts also highlighted the importance of collective contribution of government, business, and community to country's socio-economic growth by implementing the SDGs.
“We understand that it will be tough to achieve these targets without the solid support of all our stakeholders, mainly the state and community, but we firmly believe that we are not alone on this journey,” said Alima Issembayeva, Director on Government and Public Relations, Sustainable Development of CCI Kazakhstan.
Ms. Issembayeva also noted that CCI has committed itself to achieving the sustainable development goals in the countries where it operates, including Kazakhstan. CCI plans to implement several projects to achieve these commitments. For example, by 2030, CCI intends to achieve 100% recyclable packaging and use at least 50% recycled plastic. Also, CCI commits to increase the water efficiency of its plants by 20% and ensure the operation of its production facilities is powered by 100% renewable electricity for transition into carbon-neutral production. The company also plans to increase the representation of women up to 35% among new employees, up to 40% in managerial positions and up to 50% in the executive committee.
Until 2030, CCI plans to reach 3.5 million people with sustainable development programs focused on empowering women and youth, as well as protection of the environment.
“Sustainability is at the core of our business. We integrate our 2030 Commitments to everything we do. Those commitments were drawn in-line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and after the materiality analysis driven from stakeholder engagement meetings. It was time to take meet with our stakeholders this time to understand if our commitments meet their expectations and possible cooperations on the way forward” summed up Alima Issembayeva.
