Coca-Cola İçecek continues to invest in Kazakhstan with 3rd new plant

September 13, 2024 - Coca-Cola İçecek A.Ş. (CCI), a multinational Turkish beverage company with majority shareholder as Anadolu Group, operating in 12 countries with 33 bottling and 3 fruit processing plants and over 10,000 employees, has inaugurated its 3rd new state of the art production plant in Shymkent, Kazakhstan after Astana and Bereke. The investment of approximately 27 billion tenge represents a major milestone in CCI’s vision to be the best FMCG company across its markets. By establishing a strong presence in Kazakhstan, CCI has reinforced its commitment towards creating sustainable value for the people of Kazakhstan.


The inauguration ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests, including Akim of Shymkent Gabit Syzdykbekov, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Turkistan Ilker Pak, Consul General of the United Stated of America Michelle Yerkin, business partners, universities and members of the media.


Marking the 30th anniversary of serving high quality products in Kazakhstan as The Coca-Cola System, the new plant, covering an area of 16 hectares and equipped with two production lines, will increase CCI’s annual production capacity by approximately 30 percent. It is in the vicinity of the industrial zone, "Zhuldyz" in Shymkent and will create 150 new job opportunities.


CCI Central Asia and Caucasus Regional Director, Erdinç Güzel, expressed his gratitude towards the government, the Akimat of Shymkent, and the local community for their invaluable support. He emphasized the company’s economic impact, stating:
“As the market leader, I am proud to say that up until today, CCI has invested over 106 billion Tenge in the country since 1994 and this plant is a testament of CCI’s commitment to its investment plans. In return, Kazakhstan today has become one of CCI’s top operations. This achievement was made possible by the favourable and fair business environment created by the government of Kazakhstan. Since 2013, CCI’s contribution in taxes and other obligatory payments to the Kazakh budget mounted to 259 billion tenge and our ecosystem’s total contribution to Kazakhstan’s GDP reached 475 billion tenge.”


Güzel noted that the investment will also contribute to the overall socio-economic growth, in line with CCI’s 2030 Sustainability Commitments. The new production plant will integrate advanced technologies to significantly reduce its environmental impact. Additionally, the project will introduce innovative initiatives and development programs aimed at benefiting the surrounding communities.
