Coca-Cola İçecek Continues To Invest In Azerbaijan With Second Plant
26.08.2024A groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the construction of Azerbaijan Coca-Cola Bottlers’ (CCI Azerbaijan) second state-of-the-art production facility in the Ismayıllı district, Azerbaijan.
The groundbreaking ceremony of CCI Azerbaijan new production facility in Ismayıllı was held on Saturday 18 May 2024 with Minister of Economy, Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov as the guests of honor and mayor of Ismayilli, Mr.Nahid Bagirov as distinguished guest.
The new production facility will be CCI’s second production plant in Azerbaijan. The new facility will be constructed on a 15-hectare site with an annual production capacity of 165-million-litres. The facility will adhere with all domestic and international quality and safety standards and will generate additional employment for nearly 100 Azerbaijani nationals.
Rana Mamedova, General Manager of CCI Azerbaijan, stated, ‘CCI’s new investment in Azerbaijan is an indicator of the favorable business environment and attractive investment conditions in the country. It is also a token of the development of the non-oil sector in the country. The establishment of Coca-Cola's new production plant in Ismayıllı is expected to enhance the industrial potential of the region, improve production infrastructure, bolster local production, create new employment opportunities, and facilitate the transfer of new technologies to the regions.’
Praising CCI’s socio economic impact in Azerbaijan, Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy stated, ‘the diversification and development of the non-oil economy in Azerbaijan, the attraction of domestic and foreign investments, and the increase of production and export opportunities are among the important directions of the economic policy implemented by the head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev: Attracting investments to the country, replacing imports and works are continued for the purpose of creating export-oriented production areas. A healthy and transparent business environment increases the volume of foreign direct investments that bring modern technology and knowledge to Azerbaijan. Measures designed to stimulate competitive production open up opportunities for ensuring economic growth in the regions, creating new enterprises, and promoting employment.
From this point of view, laying the foundations of another large enterprise in Ismayilli district is an additional stimulus for the socio-economic development of the region, increasing the attractiveness of the investment environment. The new enterprise in Ismayilli is established based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on February 1, 2021 between "Azerbaijan Coca-
Cola Bottlers" LLC, a subsidiary of "Coca-Cola İçecek" company belonging to Turkey's "Anadolu Group" company, and the Ministry of Economy.
The new production enterprise will contribute to the realization of the industrial potential of the region, strengthening of local production, transfer of new technologies to the regions, and improvement of social welfare. The favorable business environment, concessions, privileges and incentives created for investors with continuous reforms ensure positive economic changes and achievements in our regions.’
CCI Azerbaijan stands as a pioneer and one of the largest foreign investors in Azerbaijan. Coca-Cola entered the Azerbaijan market nearly three decades ago and since then has been a key player in the beverage industry. Currently, it has one factory operating with 6 lines in Baku. In 2007, CCI fully acquired all bottling operations in Azerbaijan and directly employs up to 400 people and indirectly supports over 5000 jobs across the country.
