26.08.2024

Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) created employment opportunities for women following the “Forklift Operator Training Program” launched as part of its approach to gender equality in the workplace.  The training program aims to create balance and diversity while overcoming prejudices and the first female forklift operators of CCI started working at Çorlu, İzmir and Bursa factories.

Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) believes that “occupations have no gender” and adopts the approach of equal opportunity. Accordingly, the company has now taken a further step to increase the number of female employees on the field to achieve equality in the workplace. CCI promised to increase the number of female employees as a part of its 2030 Sustainability Commitments and started its “Forklift Operator Training Program” to achieve this target. Perceived as a gender-specific occupation, the position of forklift operator turned into a new opportunity for women at CCI, which announced the program on the Diversity and Inclusion Day. After successfully completing the training, 12 female forklift operators started working at Çorlu, İzmir and Bursa factories.

Hasan Ellialtı, General Manager of Coca-Cola İçecek Türkiye, said: "Being a forklift operator requires a specific certification. As CCI Türkiye, we aimed to train our own operators through the “Forklift Operator Training Program”. This way, we plan to contribute to the training and development of the female workforce and to provide employment opportunities at CCI for the trainees who successfully complete the evaluation. We aim to expand these free trainings to other regions in addition to the 3 pilot provinces.”

Trainings are organized in factories to raise awareness

Ellialtı stated that they support women who participate in CCI training programs so that they may acquire a profession and added, “We organized interactive practices to raise awareness on social gender equality and human rights in our factories and implemented trainings towards raising awareness. We are also improving the working environment to ensure that our female employees are comfortable and happy at the factories.”

The “Forklift Operator Training Program” received 732 applications; 32 female candidates were accepted into the program and participated in the training at the contracted training institutions. The successful trainees received a certificate and were employed at CCI Türkiye.
